For five years it has been Mummy and Tor.
On May 22nd it officially became Mummy, Mr A and Tor.
It was a big decision for all three of us. It is a decision that we were all slightly scared about but so very excited about. I am still excited about it.
I have my best friend with me from the moment I open my eyes. It is still like a dream.
Tor was very excited when we decided to broach the subject with him. We wanted to include him every step of the way. I knew how much he enjoyed the company of Mr A and cared about him; but having a friend round for dinner or going out on a day trip with is not the same to having him in the same house, being involved in our little family. Ensuring Tor knew what was going on and having a say in the changes was important to me. It should be a group discussion, everyone's view and emotions should be considered no matter their age.
Although I knew in my heart his response would be positive it still made me nervous about what he would actually think.
I did not need to be nervous. I think I almost cried with happiness. Tor was so excited he wanted it to happen there and then at 8pm on a Tuesday. Umm, it took a little bit longer than that.
Mr A has been in our lives for a few years. We have grown together slowly as a family which has been perfect as it feels so right being under one roof now. We all understand each others needs. It's a big step for all of us but has not felt that way.
We seem to have a Tardis of a house. How we have managed to fit everything in I still don't really know. How did I ever manage without those bags you vacuum the air out of before this?
Sunday is my favourite day of the week when we are all together. A Sunday family breakfast means more to me than anything. It's something we have not done before. I am sure Tor and Mr A think I am rather mad setting the table out with a huge grin on my face.
I know it won't all be about Sunday morning breakfasts and there will be tough times but the two of us have become stronger now that we are three.
Congratulations! Lovely news, I hope there are many more family breakfasts :-)
